Question: What Was Your First Domain Name?

We’re feeling a little curious today, so we have a couple questions for our community.

  • What was the first domain name you registered?
  • Do you still have/use it?
  • Do you even remember what your first domain purchase was? ;)

We’d love to hear from you! We’ll also randomly select a comment and award the poster $25 in account credit, so happy commenting!

    Attention,
I apologize for intruding into your privacy, especially by contacting you through this means for a business transaction of this magnitude, but due to its seriousness and necessity, it became necessary for me to seek for your assistance. My name is Mr. David Nelson Jr, one of the investment managers of Aviva Investors. Aviva Investors is a business consulting firm, offering business advisory services worldwide. Recently we have been confronted with the task of investing funds for our investors with Aviva which runs into billions of British Pound Sterling and hundreds of millions of pounds was made as profits for our investors but sincerely, I secretly extracted 1.2% from the Excess Maximum Return Capital Profit on each of our investors profit margin there by making a total of £28,000,000.00 (Twenty eight million British pound Sterling). I personally cannot lay claim to this fund because of my position as one of the investment managers and I decided to seek your partnership to co-operate with me in laying claim to the fund. Our sharing modalities will be negotiated between us. In View of this foregoing issue, I look forward to receive your response so that I can intimate you with further details.

    Regards,
Mr. David Nelson Jr.and Mrs.Lisa Kilpatrick

    My first domain was http://www.up3s.com

  • http://twitter.com/itssri itsSri

The first domain name I registered was itsSri.com and also the .net and .org variations in January 2005. My first transaction at Name.com was also the same domain set when I transferred them here, in January 2006.

Of course, I still have it and how can I ever forget it :P – it's my brand name that was coined using best branding practices.
    Short,
    6 letter
2 words – a common word its and other a popular proper name word Sri
    2 syllables
    Have all major TLDs
    No TM issues

    itsSri means 2 things.
    (1) it's Sri (sri is short for Srinivasa, my name) – unforgettable, isn't it?
    (2) The name ITSSRI expands to Information Technology Services, Systems, Resources Integrator – which neatly sums up my business – cool, ain't it?

In mid 2000 I bought idouglas.com from a short-lived multi-level domain name scheme called ijoe.com (see FAQ at link)

I don't think I will ever forget my first domain, even though I no longer have it, my first domain was magick-me.org which was a personal website and blog. I brought the domain in 2003ish when I knew very little about them and paid $80 for two years PLUS $12 a month. I can't believe I was so silly at the time and thought I was getting a good deal. I was worried about dodgy dealers out there. Thankfully I am a lot wiser now and know where to go for my domain fix. :D

  • Gfxclass

My first domain was gfxclass.com which was taken by me back in 2006

  • Wombat Boy

imageek.net in 1998. No longer use it or own it.

  • Sumeet

My first domain i registered was apunkaworld.com .. Yeah I still use it for my personal blog :)
My first domain purchase was a long journey though. Had been thinking to hit up and get one but since I didn't own a credit card, I had to wait. I then worked for some one for some dollars and asked him to buy me a domain instead of giving me the money
Thats how i received my first domain..
Today I have over 100 domains, but still apunkaworld.com is my most favorite due to obvious reasons

I am a blogger and using blogspot to write blogs and thinking to buy my own domain. I don’t have any domain still but thinking to buy one. But confusing about the domain name and lots more thing.

Hey Daniel, you should totally purchase your own domain! If you visit http://www.name.com and type in your search terms (maybe your first and last name, or subject of what your blog is about) you’ll be able to see if the domain name you want is available, or if someone has already registered it. Once you find an available domain click checkout and you are on your way (you will have to set up an account). Then I’d recommend using PageZen to get your blog started, PageZen (www.name.com/website-builder) is a really easy drag and drop platform that even has a ‘blog’ setting where you can create your 1 page blog. Best part, one page PageZen is always free and requires no additional hosting. If you buy a domain and choose not to use PageZen, you’ll need to host the domain (http://www.name.com/services/hosting) which basically means you have to purchase a ‘place’ to store the files on your site. If you go with our hosting, you can use Fantastico to set up a word press blog.

Does that help get you started? Let me know if you have any more specific questions :)
